The President's Perspective
Greetings from South Florida,
Positive feedback from our Annual Meeting and Conference last August in Washington DC continues to cross my desk.
Charles Z. (“Charlie”) Porten, long-time SER member with a stellar record of engagements in his areas of expertise, felt the need to freshen his marketing effort. He retained Rosalie Hamilton, one of the speakers at our August conference and a nationally known “expert” on marketing experts. Charlie now has a new website and very quickly picked up an engagement from a visitor to the site!
Charlie’s experience is just one example of the benefit of attending our showcase event.
Yes, doing so generates an out-of-pocket cash expense (shared, however, by the IRS depending on your tax bracket), but it is also an investment in your own expert witness practice. Entering my 22nd year in business for myself, I have learned that investments in my own business offer substantial returns. This year’s Annual Meeting and Conference is in New York City on 22-23 July. Make plans to attend and book your flight/train now to capture a reasonable fare.
As I pen this note, the Winter Meeting of SER’s board of directors looms large. Your board meets in Dallas on 29-30 January 2016 to address an agenda designed to ensure that SER, first and foremost, continues to deliver value to the membership, now some 90 strong, and second, expands the visibility of SER.
As I will repeat each month for the balance of my term in office, please remember that new members are the plasma that re-invigorates SER’s lifeblood. The approval process has been streamlined, so be on the lookout for qualified candidates. We just harvested a former member last week!
Happy New Year and best wishes for good health and prosperity for you and your family in 2016.
Respectfully, Bruce Foerster
